Researchers at Trend Micro have discovered that Conficker is using P2P communications between infected PCs to drop a payload.

The file that was downloaded was created April 7th, long after the very anticipated April 1st.

The exact nature of that file is still unknown but under investigation.

Interestingly, some evidence links Conficker with the Waledac malware family also known for its large botnets, and worth mentioning, the infamous Storm worm.

There is a lot of speculation as to who is behind all of this… Do they know each other? Are they the same people?

We are keeping an eye on this situation very closely and recommend people to make sure their systems are patched and well protected with anti-malware software.
